Kimball International consists of three furniture brands: Kimball Office, National Office Furniture and Kimball Hospitality. It is the successor to W.W. Kimball and Company, the world's largest piano and organ manufacturer at certain times in the 19th and 20th centuries.

The interview procedure at Kimball International is similar to competitors. There is a basic skills assessment which covers topics including but not limited to reading, writing, articulation, and simple math. Applicants must bring their resume with them to the interview. Some applicants go through a online screening prior to progressing to an in person interview. Current employees have reported that it is important to show that you are capable of handling stressful situations, working in a fast paced setting, have a flexible schedule, and collaborating with others. Once through the screening process, all new employees are required to go through a formal training.
