Holiday Inn is a hotel chain with locations across the globe. It originated as a U.S. motel chain and has grown into one of the world's most successful chains. Holiday Inn operates 3,463 hotels with a total of 435,299 bedrooms that host 100 million people per year. Kemmons Wilson founded the company in Memphis, Tennessee in 1952 and is now a subsidiary of the InterContinental Hotels Group. It has a popular division known as the Holiday Inn Express hotels which are smaller variations of the regular Holiday Inn hotels but offer fewer services in an effort to appeal to cost conscious travelers. Other company brands include the Holiday Inn Resort, Holiday Inn Select, Holiday Inn Sunspree Resorts, Holiday Inn Club Vacations and the Holiday Inn Garden Court.
