Genentech Inc., is a biotechnology corporation which became a subsidiary of Roche in 2009. Genentech Research and Early Development operates as an independent center within Roche. As of November 2014, Genentech employed nearly 12,900 people. In July 2014, Genentech announced its acquisition of Seragon for up to $1.725 billion.

The interview procedure at Genentech is straightforward. There is a common skills assessment which covers topics including but not limited to reading, writing, articulation, and basic math. Applicants must bring their resume with them to the interview. Some applicants go through a online screening before progressing to an in person interview. Former employees have reported that it is important to show that you are capable of handling stressful situations, working in a fast paced setting, have a flexible schedule, and communicating with colleagues. Once through the application process, all new hires are required to go through a formal training.
