GameStop is an incredibly popular and successful video game retail chain. While most people go to GameStop for video games, the stores also sell consumer electronics products and wireless services. The company also owns several other operations including Simply Mac, Aio Wireless, Spring Mobile and a video game magazine called Game Informer. The chain was originally called Babbage's when it debuted in Dallas, Texas in 1984. In total, there are 6,457 retail stores in the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and Europe. Aside from the GameStop brand, stores also operate under the Micromania and EB Games monikers. GameStop also owns Kongregate, a website for video games supported by browsers.
